The High-Ranking Charcoal Military Coat

The Well-Rounded Gent: Our Favorite Winter Coats

Welcome to the latest installment of The Well-Rounded Gent, a new feature that focuses on higher end clothing and accessories for the big and tall man. Send your questions, comments and anything you’d like us to cover here.

I love everything about winter – except for actually being cold. Winter gives men an opportunity to showcase their style without having to worry about sweating through their clothing. But since you also don’t want to freeze when you step outside, every man should have a few great coats. Since a coat should match your outfit (just like everything else you put on), it’s good to have a few different styles to choose from as you head out the door.

The High-Ranking Charcoal Military Coat ($329.00) from Indochino is the semi-casual coat to own this year. It’s versatile enough to wear to work, out at night on the town, and on the weekends. Additionally, fit is guaranteed because Indochino makes everything custom to your specific measurements.

Stepping up the dress scale is the Double Breasted Trench (with hood) from Zara. This coat has all of the classic details of a trench with the updated addition of a hood. Available in tan and brown, in sizes up to XXL, and at the budget-friendly price of $189.00, this coat is a smart addition to any wardrobe.

Finally, every man needs a good top coat in his closet. You can find them in black at most stores, but other colors and patterns are harder to find. If you regurarily read this article, you know that I recommend finding classic items in subtly different or unique colors / textures / patterns. The Grey Plaid Mac Jacket ($298.00) from Banana Republic is my recommendation for a formal coat this winter. It’s classic, stylishly updated, and available in sizes up to XXL.
