1. The Navy Suit

Not only is navy the ‘in color’ for Spring, but it’s also the most versatile suit color you can buy. Perfect for formal occasions, a well tailored navy suit will give you a sophisticated, yet modern look. Navy suit separates work perfectly on their own. The jacket pairs well with a pair of medium wash jeans, colored chinos, or white jeans. On their own, the pants will add a more formal look to a chambray or gingham shirt.

Navy Suit Do’s and Don’ts:

DO go with a darker navy blue instead of medium or light. You’ll get more use out of it.
DO opt for a cotton or cotton blend twill navy suit. Wool might be too weighty for Spring.
DON’T choose a pinstripe suit. Leave that to mobsters.

Khaki Suit

2. The Khaki Suit

Have a lot of summer weddings to attend? A khaki suit is the perfect attire choice for a casual or less than formal summer wedding. Light colors aren’t always easy on big guys, so pick a suit with a well structured jacket and tailor the pants slimmer than usual. There’s nothing worse than flowy, flapping pants. While wearing this suit as separates falls into the “advanced fashion” category, it is possible. Try the jacket with dark denim and a stylish sneaker, Perfect for a casual Friday at the office.

Khaki Suit Do’s & Don’ts:

DON’T buy a suit with pleated pants, especially in khaki
DO have it tailored a bit slimmer
DO think about a 100% cotton or poplin khaki suit.

Think wedding, graduation party, garden party, country club, or rooftop dinner. The jacket is fantastic on it’s own with dark denim, white pants or khakis.

Chambray Suit Do’s & Don’ts:

DO pick a blue or grey chambray suit.
DON’T go with khaki or brown. Leave that for a linen suit.
