There are few big and tall subscription clothing boxes on the market. With Good Counsel ditching the box to become a full-fledged e-commerce retailer last year, the pickings are slimmer. Stitch Fix, one of the original clothing box companies, is still going strong. We ordered a new Stitch Fix big & tall box to find out what kind of clothes the company has for big gents in 2024.
Order a box or buy from their shop
A few years ago, Stitch Fix introduced Freestyle, a unique take on the traditional online shop. Customers can use the personal styling service or buy individual products from the Stitch Fix website. You’ll need to sign up for a free account to access Freestyle, but once you’re in, you’ll see clothing options tailored to your size, style, and preferences. The more products you rate, the better your recommendations will be.
Stitch Fix needs more big & tall sizes
Stitch Fix big & tall is a good option if you fall within their size ranges. Like many mainstream offerings, the sizing could be better. As of this writing, they offer sizes XS-3XL, 28-48-inch waists, 28-36-inch inseams, and shirts and blazers in tall sizes. It would be great to see the company integrate men’s clothing sizes to 5X and 60 waist to accommodate more big & tall customers
Stitch Fix carries clothes from several brands, including a few of its in-house brands. This means that sizing can vary from item to item. In my recent box, I received two shirts from Flag & Anthem that fit like a glove and a button-down that was just a smidge too tight in the stomach. This is the whole point of ordering one of its boxes, known as Fixes. Keep what you like and return the rest.
Here’s what was in my Fix
When you order a fix, you’re assigned a personal stylist who assembles your Fix based on your sizes, the styles you’ve rated on the Stitch Fix website (give it a try – it’s actually a fun little game), and whatever you tell them you’re looking for. Before the box is sent out, you’ll get to approve the contents of the box. If you don’t like something, veto it, and your stylist will add a replacement. Here’s what arrived in my latest Fix:
Hawker Rye Essential Wash Short Sleeve Stretch Shirt – $59
I always have a shirt like this in my closet. It’s classic, works with just about anything, and, well, blue just looks good on me. I really liked the fit of this shirt. With built-in stretch fabric, it would fit different body types pretty well.
Flag & Anthem Short Sleeve Performance Henley 2 Pack – $59.50
We’ve told you about Flag & Anthem before – the brand is putting a modern spin on classic wardrobe essentials. This henley 2-pack is no exception to the fit and quality I’ve come to expect from them. The shirts fit well without being too long (or too short) for my average 5’8 build. Flag & Anthem’s clothes feel broken in – soft on the skin and ultra-comfortable, which is precisely what a big guy wants from his clothing.
California Shirt Co. Big & Tall Shirts
I liked the look of these shirts from Stitch Fix’s in-house brand, California Shirt Co. Unfortunately, I found the 3X versions to be too tight in the stomach. Bummer! They fit perfectly in the chest, shoulders, and back. They would have been perfect with just a bit more room in the stomach. Your results may vary.
The North Face Brand Proud Tee – $35
This lightweight T-shirt from The North Face is perfect for summer, especially if you’re not partial to heavyweight, moisture-absorbing tees. I liked the shirt’s look, but I prefer mine to have a little more heft.
Tips for getting the perfect Stitch Fix big & tall box
I recommend that you give Stitch Fix big & tall a try for yourself. Your style and options will differ from mine, which is great! Having a personal stylist catering to your exact needs is pretty awesome. If you want to make the most of your Stitch Fix experience, do the following:

- Think about what you need: Are you looking for chinos for work or shorts for your weekend run? Consider what you need and why you need it. Be sure to share that info with your stylist. They want to help you find what you need.
- Don’t be afraid to try something new: It can be difficult to wear clothing that is outside of your comfort zone. One of the big benefits of using Stitch Fix is that you get to try the clothes, shoes, and accessories in your Fix before you buy them. Add a pop of color, or try a new print. That’s how you find new things you’ll love.
