Our Thing of the Week feature covers the clothes, products, media, and anything else that we think you should know about. This week, we’re answering an oft-asked reader question: Where can I find the best apple watch bands for big wrists? See our tips and picks below, including options for the Apple Watch Ultra.
We’ll keep this simple – large wrist size starts around 8 inches. You can easily measure your wrist with a flexible tape measure. Wrap the tape measure around the smallest part of your wrist, starting at the middle (with your hand open). Read the measurement where the tape measure overlaps and you’ve got your measurement! Make sure the tape measure is as tight as you’d wear your watch. For reference, my own wrist measured just shy of 8.5 inches.
If you’re looking for a premium Apple Watch band for big wrists, look no further than Zeus. As we wrote when we covered the brand previously, Zeus bands are made to fit most wrists 8-1/4″ – 10″ inches (or 254mm) in diameter and are compatible with 42mm and 44mm Apple Watch models. Bands are available in black and brown for $47.50 at their website.
Everything Nomad Goods sells is sleek and stylish. The icing on the cake? They sell Apple Watch bands that can fit big wrists. Nomad’s bands fit wrists up to 210mm (8.2 inches) by default, but both their Titanium Bands and their Steel Bands allow you to add or remove links to customize the fit to your exact needs. Surprisingly, I found that I needed to remove a few from my own band to get it just right. Pick up Nomad’s Base Station phone & Apple Watch charging hub ($129) while you’re at it.
Of the bands on this list, the one I found myself going back to most for day-to-day wear is the Catalyst Impact Protection Case for Apple Watch Series 5 & 4. Rugged, grippy, drop and scratch proof, this one gives you a case and a band specifically for the 44mm Apple Watch. The case doesn’t add extra bulk or obscure any watch features while still keeping it protected. This XL Apple Watch band is a breathable rubber design that dries quickly and can handle getting wet or dirty. Because of the design, you have a variety of fit options that allow you to adjust the band for wrists up to around 9 inches. Get one for yourself in black, blue, and red.
Of course, Apple makes their own watch band for big wrists. The soft, durable elastomer is available in 19 different colors and fits 160mm – 245mm (9.6 inch) wrists, slightly smaller than the Zeus Bands. Get yours for $49.
The newest Apple Watch is the most rugged of the company’s timepieces, made to handle whatever you throw at it. As of now, the best Apple Watch Ultra bands for big wrists are the bands you see in this list. Although the Ultra boasts a larger 49mm case size, it is compatible with 45mm bands, and of course the new bands that come with the watch when you purchase it.
One of many Apple Watch bands for big wrists available on Amazon, this nylon band from Carterjett is a good casual option. This bad boy will fit up to a 10.5-inch wrist. Choose from 20 different colors to find the perfect band for you.
