Las Vegas City Center

The Well-Rounded Gent: Vegas or Bust

Tom Ford at The Crystals

For years, Las Vegas has been portrayed as a somewhat questionable, morally ambiguous and geographically disconnected city where anything can happen and usually does. But recently, the city has made a more concerted effort to stake its claim as a premier upscale destination that boasts a variety of luxurious high-end shops, lodging, nightlife hotspots, and restaurants. There’s a lot more to Vegas than you might think. When I stay there, I make it a point to visit the following places:

The Crystals at City Center

This ultra-modern development sports thirty nine luxurious stores, seven restaurants, and four galleries. When you’re there, make sure you visit these stores:

Assouline: A bookstore for those with money to spend. Assouline books cover topics from fashion, photography, art and design, and the store boasts rare vintage books and exclusive gifts ranging in price from $50 to $30,000.

Tom Ford: Once in charge of Gucci, Tom Ford has since opened a few opulent stores in select cities that carry his namesake. Ford is famous for his daring style, superb craftsmanship, and made-to-measure suiting. If you’re not looking for a suit, the store is still worth a stop, as you’ll find almost every type of men’s accessory imaginable.

The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casinodaring style, superb craftsmanship, and made-to-measure suiting.

Hermes: The brand that exudes rich heritage and timeless Parisian style. Mostly known for their women’s accessories, Hermes also produces fine silk scarves, ties, and cashmere suits for gentlemen.

The Cosmopolitan

This hotel and casino is extravagantly decadent down to the smallest detail, and also contains The Wicked Spoon, which is one of the most sought-after buffets in town (it can take over an hour to get a seat). Additionally, The Cosmopolitan has some of the best locations to drink in Vegas: The Chandelier (a semi-casual lounge wrapped in a three story chandelier) and Marquee Nightclub, one of the most popular and exclusive nightclubs in Vegas. You could never leave this hotel and have an extremely satisfying trip.

There are many other places worth visiting in Las Vegas, and as it’s a favorite travel destination of mine, you can expect to learn more about the city in future Gent articles. Where are your favorite places to visit in Las Vegas? Tell us below.
