The Well Rounded Gent: Two Watches You Should Own

Every gentleman should have a few different timepieces to compliment different outfits and occasions.  As a novice collector of watches, I always keep my eyes open for a good deal on a quality timepiece, and this week I want to highlight two watches that I think every man should own: the Gucci 8600 Series Chronograph and the D&G Tortoise Bezel Chronograph.

These are two completely different watches, both in price and style.  The Gucci 8600 is classic, formal, and moderately expensive.  However, at around $900 (normally priced around $1,300, but available at a discount in limited quantities from a variety of online retailers), this watch is an investment that won’t break the bank like a new Rolex or Cartier watch will.  The Gucci 8600 is perfectly suited for the office and any formal occasion.  The straps come in either black or brown leather or metal, and the face comes in either black or silver.  This watch is a must have accessory, and will never go out of style.  You can find the silver band version here, the black leather band here, and the brown leather band here.

The Gucci 8600

The D&G Tortoise Bezel Chronograph is entirely different than the Gucci 8600.  It’s priced at only $200, yet looks like it’s worth a lot more.  This watch successfully combines classic elements (tortoise shell bezel, round face) with modern touches such as a black face and a white leather strap.  (You can also get it with a black strap).  More suited to the weekend or less formal outfits, this unique timepiece is sure to be a conversation starter.  Although the D&G Tortoise Bezel Chronograph is less practical (stylistically) from some watches, I think this is one timepiece every man should definitely consider.

As an additional piece of advice, I recommend pairing this watch with this pair of Ray-Ban’s.  Combining these two accessories can really add a touch of the unexpected to your outfit.
