The Well-Rounded Gent: Three Fall Scarves

Welcome to the latest installment of The Well-Rounded Gent, a new feature that focuses on higher end clothing and accessories for the big and tall man. Send your questions, comments and anything you’d like us to cover here.

The weather is cooling down, which means that it’s time to layer.  Scarves are a practical and stylish way to add warmth when needed, and every man should own a few variations.  Below are three of our favorites for fall:

Thick and Chunky:

For maximum warmth, opt for the classic cable-stitched wool scarf.  Available in multiple colors, we recommend the Zara Cable-Stitched Scarf for $35.90.  It goes with any outfit, and it’s guaranteed to keep you warm on those chilly mornings (or evenings).

Thin and Lightweight:

Polka dots are in this season, and this Hartford scarf does a great job of subtly utilizing the pattern.  Constructed of 90% wool and 10 % silk, available in three colors, and made in France, this is the lightweight scarf to own this year.  The Hartford Polka Dot Scarf can be purchased at Park & Bond for $150.00.

Make a Statement:

If cooler weather makes you ask, “Where can I find a dead animal to wrap around my neck?”, then we have the PETA-approved answer for you.  Last seen around ladies necks in the 1940’s, the fox stole makes an ironic and two-dimensional comeback in silk, modal, and cashmere.  This scarf is guaranteed to be the whimsical answer to the question you probably weren’t asking until now.  The Alexander McQueen Fox Print Scarf is available at Barneys New York for $365.00.
