Part of cultivating your style is finding ways to make your look unique. Being a bigger guy means less options for clothing in your size, so it’s even more important to be creative so that you’re not wearing the exact same look as every other man of size. Guys like Corbin Chamberlin and actor Harvey Guillen get it – they create interesting looks that match their personalities and make them stand out from the crowd. What’s one thing they do successfully that we can learn from? They make liberal use of accessories. The month of September is all about accessories here in the gent, and we’re continuing that theme with one of our favorite neckwear brands, General Knot & Co.
If you’re just starting to piece together your style, accessories might not be something you give much thought. Adding a stylish driving cap or a great looking watch to your outfit can be just the thing to help complete a look. There are tons of places you can go to find the perfect accessory, but a well-rounded gent is going to be on the lookout for something unique, and that’s where a shop like General Knot & Co. comes in.
Based in Bedford, New York, General Knot & Co. designs and creates limited edition handmade neckwear and accessories. Their collections are made with unique fabrics and colors, and have a decidedly vintage feel to them, due to the use of vintage and deadstock fabrics (unsold, never worn or remnant fabrics) that go back to the World War II era. When one of their collections ends, that’s it. They say their products are “uniquely finite,” so when they’re gone, they’re gone, meaning that chances are slim you’ll run into someone else wearing the exact General Knot & Co. tie you’ve got on.

You’ll find neckties, bow ties, and pocket squares in a variety of designs and colors at the site. Squares start around $30, bow ties around $70, and neckties around $90, which isn’t bad considering the product you’re getting. Necktie sizes run 2-7/8″ x 58″.
