Welcome to the latest installment of The Well-Rounded Gent, Chubstr’s feature focusing on higher end clothing and accessories for the big and tall man. Send your questions, comments and anything you’d like us to cover here.
The Well-Rounded Gent is back! We gave the feature an extended vacation starting right before Christmas, but there are way too many high end goodies out there to share with you, so it’s time to get things going again. This week, we’re taking a look at Palm Beach based purveyors of hand made slippers, Stubbs & Wootton.
At Stubbs & Wootton, you’ll find many creative and interesting takes on the velvet slipper, for both women and men. The company offers slippers adorned with a variety of designs – from crests, to hula girls, to the skull and crossbones. S&W is doing a great job of pulling the velvet slipper out of the more stuffy territory it has traditionally inhabited.
In addition to the 30+ varieties of slipper and 5 pair of espadrilles (a flat-heeled shoe made with a rope and/or rubber sole), the Stubbs & Wootton website offers a bespoke section that allows you to create your own custom pair of slippers. Choose your desired shoe type, fabric, trim, and then take your pick of custom embroidery from almost 50 designs. If you’d like more of a personal touch to your slipper, you can add a monogram instead of an embroidery. Choose from machine thread stitching, or wire stitching – hand stitched embroidered monograms in silver and 18 carat gold wire.
Ready to purchase slippers at Stubbs & Wootton retail for $450. Bespoke slippers start at $495 and can run double that if you choose to go with the wire stitched monogram option. Espadrilles retail for $225. You’ll find sizes to 14 in every style. Purchase your own pair at www.stubbsandwootton.com or visit them in person at their Palm Beach, NYC, or Southampton locations.
If you’re looking for a high end, comfortable slipper, consider Stubbs & Wootton. I mean, Kanye can’t be wrong, can he?
