Chef, actor, and restaurateur Matty Matheson is back in front of the camera, this time, for Levi’s latest ad campaign. Matheson joins Grammy-winning country artist Shaboozey as the faces of the brand’s new Icons campaign, focusing on Levi’s most legendary pieces: the 501 Original Jeans, the Trucker Jacket, and the Western Shirt.

The campaign is classic Levi’s with a touch of cinematic weirdness. Each of the three short films that make up the series focuses on one of the iconic pieces of clothing, pulling together storytelling and style in a way that feels more like an art project than an ad campaign.

Matty and Shaboozey star in all three shorts – “The Jean,” “The Jacket,” and “The Shirt” – each with a western theme and humor that feels more like a cult film than an ad campaign. Whether Matty is fixing a car while a couple watches a movie behind him, or playing a trippy, mystical game of chess with Shaboozey under a glowing moon, the clothes are still front and center.

Levi’s isn’t using this campaign to launch a new collection; the clothes featured here are staples. Your dad (and your dad’s dad) probably had them, and they’ll be available for years to come. The Icons campaign is a reminder that these looks are still relevant today.
