Find Your Color This Fall: Olive

Let’s face it, most guys aren’t very adventurous when it comes to adding color to your look. We’ve all heard that darker colors can be slimming, but if that’s all you’re wearing, you’re missing out on putting together some really great looks that don’t fall into black or navy. Every week in October, we’re bringing you a new fall color to try, and clothing in that shade that you can wear in your size. Be adventurous – add an article of clothing with color and see the new outfit possibilities it can open up. We’re kicking things off with Olive.

Wear More Olive!

The human eye can perceive millions of colors, yet many retailers seem to think it’s more like fifty shades of grey. While we hold nothing against the colors of the dark side, we are rather thrilled to see more and more stores embracing big, bold, beautiful, color.

It would come as no surprise if many of you gents out there are already proudly strutting in some bright plumage, but for the rest of you, it’s time that we had the talk about safe color. Namely, how to avoid looking like are a member of the Dead Poets Society. While you may not be quite ready to don fuchsia chinos (if you are, pics please!), there are many healthy ways to begin experimenting with color that won’t make you feel regretful the day after.

First we need to give some clear information on how to achieve greater success with new and exotic colors. Many would have you believe that basics ought to be in colors that “will go with anything.” However, if you look smashing in red, then the cherry red blazer will become a staple of yours, and you’ll end up living in it. For those of you who take a little more coaxing, try it on in accessory form. Pops of color in a belt, suspenders, socks, ties, etc., in a bold, eye catching hues.

You can also use color to influence the way that the eye will travel over your clothing, by weaving punches of color throughout, much like you would a painting. For instance, you can draw the eye up with a bright pop in your tie. One final note, color is gender-less. Whether it’s light pink, raspberry, or lilac, color does not discriminate. Seriously, if the color flatters, then you should wear it.

This September, to help ease your transition into the alluring and wild world of color, we’ve compiled some of the most popular colors for Fall, among some of Chubstr’s favorite retailers. We’ll be highlighting a new color each Monday so check back weekly. We want you to wear these colors loud, proud, and with abundant style and this week, we begin our fall color series with Olive.
