The Well-Rounded Gent: Costello Tagliapietra’s #PerfectCardigan

The Well-Rounded Gent brings you higher end style for the big and tall man. This week, we take a closer look at the Perfect Cardigan, by Costello Tagliapietra.
The Perfect Cardigan from Costello Tagliapietra

It’s dubbed the #PerfectCardigan and really, we can’t argue with that. Our favorite fashion bears, Costello Tagliapietra are known for designing couture women’s dresses, but earlier this month, when they dipped their toes into menswear, the internet (and the rest of the world,) rejoiced.

Take everything you know about a cardigan and forget it. No, really. The blend of fabrics, rayon, nylon, and a little elastic make for a smooth, soft, refined and luxurious garment. We were lucky enough to snag the Lavender version, which is an unexpected color but surprisingly neutral. A few unexpected touches include hidden snaps rather than buttons and coordinating grosgrain ribbon on the pockets, back of the collar and behind said snaps. There’s a perfect little peek of color when you sit down and those snaps begin to pull (which is part of Costello Tagliapietra’s signature style, and a pretty common occurrence among the men at Chubstr.)

Our favorite features of the Perfect Cardigan are the ultrasuede elbow patches that don Costello Tagliapietra’s signature anchor logo. It’s a modern take on a classic blazer detail that strikes a perfect balance for the garment. The cardigan is available in 2 sizes, Size 1 & Size 2. The size 2, shown here in photos, would fit most big guys well. The elastic and blend of fabrics give it an almost universal fit. Can’t snap it? No worries. It looks just as good open as it does closed.

The #PerfectCardigan is available at CostelloTagliapietra.com for $245. It’s a perfect splurge item and a rare find, especially at our size.
