Prints are the name of the game this summer, with brands finally offering them in extended sizes. You’ve probably already noticed that floral prints are in. You can keep it simple with more conservative designs or go full Hawaiian if you’d like. Both options are available, having been modernized for 2018.

Also trendy this year: vertical stripes, bright colors (if you like greens and blues, this is your season) as well as non-floral prints of every kind. If you’re into ugly or reclaimed vintage looking fashion, that’s in for summer too. These looks won’t be in forever, so make the most of it while you can.

How to Up Your Big & Tall Shirt Game

Now that you know what you’ll be seeing this summer from a trend perspective, how do you make sure to buy things that will work for you? Here are a few things to think about:

1. Look for shirts containing stretch fabric. This helps ensure better fit for multiple body types, as well as range of movement. Stretch material is generally lighter weight, which is perfect for summer.
2. Don’t be afraid to layer. I know – layering during the summer sounds like crazy talk, but it’s not. You can pick up a pack of lightweight tank tops to put on under your button downs or tees and they’ll help manage sweat without adding bulk to your look. I buy undershirts in colors that match some of my button downs – this keeps button gaps from being as noticeable.
3. You have the right to bare arms. It’s summer and you can get away with wearing less. Don’t feel like you have to stick to button downs – wear those tank tops proudly!
