Target has been on a roll for the last few years, introducing new in-house clothing brands that include extended sizes. The company just rolled out All in Motion, their new activewear brand for men, women and children. The new collection offers men’s sizes to 3X with most items costing less than $40.
According to Target, the new brand grew out of customer feedback. “[G]uests are seeking quality activewear and sporting goods that they trust will perform—at an affordable price,” says Target Senior Vice President of Apparel, Accessories, and Home, Jill Sando. This feedback led the company to create a brand focused on sustainability and size-inclusiveness, resulting in All in Motion. The durable and sustainable fabrics used to create the collection resulted in activewear that looks good and feels great.
This new brand isn’t about that puffy, frumpy activewear big guys always get stuck with. You’ll find more colorful, modern, and more form-fitting options in the All in Motion Big & Tall collection. Fans of shorter shorts – rejoice! The quick-drying big & tall stretch woven shorts are just what you’ve been looking for. Like shorts with longer legs? They’ve got you covered there too.
With a variety of colors, understated prints and modern fits, there’s a lot to like in this collection, whether you’re shopping for tops, bottoms or outerwear. I’m picking up a pair of textured fleece premium pants in olive green for myself.
After all the talk about comfort, sustainability, and inclusive sizing, I had to give Target’s All in Motion Big & Tall line a try for myself. I tried out the Textured Fleece Premium Full Zip Hoodie, the Textured Fleece Premium Pants, the Short Sleeve Performance T-Shirt, the Run Knit Pants, and the Premium Lifestyle Shorts.
I opted for a 2X in everything since I prefer my clothes to be more form-fitting. The first thing I noticed is how good everything feels. The soft fabric doesn’t get in the way and moves with your body. The performance tee was lightweight and comfortable. The hoodie kept me warm without overheating me, and both the pants and shorts offer a modern cut, but still fit perfectly.
The only piece that didn’t work for me was the Run Knit Pants. They were a little too tight in the waist and wouldn’t stay in place when I moved. I plan to exchange the 2X I purchased for a 3X and will update with information on fit.
The All in Motion line is a pleasant surprise. From the fit to the sustainability factor, Target got everything right. Still, there’s one thing missing: more extended sizing. Both the Goodfellow & Co and Original Use lines offer sizes to 5X. Even the All in Motion women’s clothing is available to 4X. With the company’s stated focus on size inclusivity, the big & tall clothing in the All in Motion line should offer the same sizing options.
Target’s All in Motion line is a solid replacement for their long-running C9 Champion activewear partnership.
