Are you a fan of all things geeky? And t-shirts that fit? You’re in luck! A company called Fresh Brewed Tee is combining their love of pop culture, geekery and clothing in sizes to 6X to bring you 72 hour sales on limited edition tees from a variety of designers. We spoke with the folks at FBT to find out why they offer extended sizes, which designs are their personal favorites, and how aspiring artists can get involved.
Why did you you start Fresh Brewed Tee?
We were very much into the whole Shirt of the Day genre of apparel websites. We are a family of people that love our diverse geeky fandoms. We are also a family that is both big and tall. It was hard to find the clothes we liked in the sizes we needed. We figured it could not only be us that felt this way. A business was born.
How long has Fresh Brewed Tee been around?
We slowly ramped up over 9 months. We ordered all types of blank tees from many vendors in so many sizes. We finally settled on the brand we felt would provide the best combination of quality and fit for the intended market and we launched on March 31, 2013. We’re at the time of this interview heading into just rounding out our first year in business.
Which tees are your favorites?
Well my step-son is one of the tee designers and I have to admit, and he’d laugh at this, but his designs are my favorite. Fatherly love is blind. LOL! [I like] The Walking Red, The Impossible Obelisk and A Dalek Orange.
Fresh Brewed Tee takes artwork submissions – what sort of designs are you looking for?
Our best selling tees of 2013 is a good list to look at. It helps artists figure out what our customer base wants.
Tell us about the contests you run.
We run contests off our Facebook page for our fans and their friends on a regular basis. We give away cool things, Music DVDs, Plush Toys, Blu-Ray Movies etc. Anything sort of tangentially linked to the current tee we are selling for 72 hours only. We have even given away a framed original art piece. On our website wee are currently running an art contest based on the Pantone Color of the Year 2014. It is only the first of several art contests to come in 2014.
