Reality TV junkies unite: there’s a new unscripted TV dating project coming, and they’re casting plus-size, big-bodied singles. While details are scarce, it looks like we might be getting a dating reality show focused on plus-size people.

The casting info makes it clear this project is about dating and not about body transformation, weight loss, or anything else you’ve seen in other shows. According to the casting agency, “this project is built for singles who show up with presence and confidence, with no interest in shrinking to fit outdated ideas of attraction.”

Looking for Dallas-based plus-size people

Dallas-based Major Media & Casting is looking for “plus-size, big-bodied MEN & WOMEN in the Dallas–Fort Worth area for a new unscripted TV project centered on people who don’t fit society’s narrow body standards, and don’t want or need to.” Major Media has handled casting for shows like The Bachelorette, The Millionaire Matchmaker, and Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow.

Here’s what they’re specifically looking for:

  • Plus-size men and women
  • Single folks
  • Based in or near Dallas-Fort Worth
  • Confident and comfortable being seen
  • No interest in shrinking themselves to fit outdated beauty standards
  • Open to genuine connection and dating on-camera

According to the information we were able to find, this project plans to buck some of the typical reality dating tropes. You won’t see any before and after transformations, no “confidence journey” narrative, and there won’t be any weight loss framing. Expect to see unapologetically fat people showing up with presence and confidence.

As of this writing, details on the show’s network/platform, cast, or filming dates have not been released. Expect updates in the near future.

How to apply

Interested? Casting is currently open. Fill out the casting application found here to be considered. You’ll share your social handles, relationship status, how you see yourself (and how others see you), your dating history, and some full-body photos. Remember, applying doesn’t mean you’re participating, and you’ve got to be in the Dallas Metroplex to apply.

For now, casting is limited to the Dallas–Fort Worth area, but if it opens up to other cities, we’ll share those details as soon as we have them. Know someone who would be a great fit for this opportunity? Share this with them and encourage them to apply. We need more fat representation in media, especially in ways we don’t normally see.

Thinking about reality TV? A few things to consider

Reality TV can be a powerful platform, but it’s also a public one. If you’re thinking about applying, it’s worth taking a minute to think about what it means to share parts of your life, your dating history, and yes, even your body with viewers around the world. The way a show is edited can shape how your story is shared, sometimes in ways you don’t expect.

Ask yourself if you’re comfortable being seen, not just at your best, but in your most vulnerable, unguarded moments, and if you can handle both positive and negative public attention. Learn more about the project at Major Media & Casting by clicking here.
