Watch This Guy Wear Body Paint Instead of Clothes Around L.A.

[dropcap size=big]A[/dropcap]s body positivity continues to become more mainstream, we’re beginning see to men become part of the conversation. Last week, BuzzFeed Video shared one such example by having comedian Erik Escobar walk the streets of Los Angeles wearing nothing but body paint and a thong.

In the video, Escobar explains that when he was younger, he dealt with issues of self worth because of his weight. “Because of my size, I could never be that ‘perfect’ image. You’re not the cool kid when you’re the big kid. You’re kind of just another person in the background. It really bothered me until I realized that I am someone who is of value.”

You don’t need to go out and paint yourself in cool body art and walk around the street. You can just have faith that you’re incredible.

Professional body painter Pashur House wanted to ensure that anyone who saw Escobar would focus on the art on his body, so he created a beautiful design that would stand out. Erik summed up the entire project perfectly: “I hope that anyone who sees it can be like ‘this guy, he’s 250 pounds, but he can rock his body, [and] so can I’.”

When asked if he could have done something like this as a younger person, Escobar said “I don’t know if my younger self could have necessarily done this, because when we’re kids, we’re always super awkward and super self-conscious. As an adult, I’m really happy I got to do it. A lot of people came in with a lot of positivity, saying that I was inspirational.” He added, “You don’t need to go out and paint yourself in cool body art and walk around the street. You can just have faith that you’re incredible, you’re unique. You’re the only you that’s out there. Don’t let that stop you from doing anything that you want to do.”

Hopefully this show of plus size body painting positivity provides you with a bit of inspiration. You can follow Erik Escobar on Instagram and Twitter.
