Thing of the Week: Walter White on a Sneaker & The Worst Sequel Ever

It’s Friday and that means another Thing of the Week. We come across a lot of interesting things throughout the course of the week, and they don’t always fit into our regular editorial content. Thing of the Week is the place for us to share those items, whatever they are, with you. Some of them you’d expect to find at Chubstr, while some you wouldn’t. You never know what you’ll find.

The TAUNTR Store

Sure, these beauties have been available for quite a while, but we somehow missed them. released a series of custom Chuck Taylors featuring illustrations of characters from TV shows you know and love, like Dexter, The Walking Dead, and Breaking Bad. For $85, you can own your own pair of shoes featuring Walter White, Dexter Morgan, and more. Available in men’s sizes to 13.

The Awl Music App

Believe it or not, before they crammed shows like Jersey Shore and 16 and Pregnant down your throat, MTV actually played music videos. Tons of them. The folks at The Awl missed the experience of watching a curated selection of videos so much that they created an app that does just that. The Awl Music App is meant to emulate MTV the way it was 30 years ago. You’ll see curated lists of videos from people who work for The Awl, friends of theirs, and a few guest VJs. We tested it out on the iPad and it does exactly what it says it’ll do – gives you a selection of videos from real people as opposed to an algorithm written to guess what you might like. The music is interesting, and might just open you up to some artists you aren’t familiar with. The best part? With Airplay and Apple TV, you can send it directly to your television, just like watching music videos in the good ol’ days.

A Christmas Story 2

They’ve taken the greatest holiday film ever made (well, aside from Lethal Weapon) and pooped out a direct to DVD/digital sequel. No good can come from this. There are no words to accurately describe the amount of suck this film will contain. Watch the trailer and decide for yourself.
