Bartees Strange is back with news, and the news is good. He’s dropped a brand new song called “Heavy Heart” that needs to be added to your regular rotation ASAP. If you’re a fan of 2021’s “Weights,” or his 2020 album, Live Forever, you’ll love this new song.
Strange says the song is about letting go of guilt. Specifically, guilt around the passing of his grandfather, the sacrifices his father made to build a future for his family, and guilt for the success he experienced with the release of Live Forever during the early days of the pandemic.
The genre-defying artist has also released a video for “Heavy Heart”, directed by Mannequin Pussy’s Marissa Dabice. If you like Strange’s style in the video, you’ve got his father and grandfather to thank for it. He’s wearing clothes that belonged to both men as a tribute to them.
In other Bartees Strange news, he announced that his has signed to 4AD. “I’m also finally announcing that I’ve signed to my dream label 4AD. I never thought that shit would happen. Everybody who knows me knows how much I’ve dreamed about working with this team. Many of my favorite artists did their best work there and I’m so excited that I’ll have the same chance.”
