If you’re only familiar with Jon Favreau from the Iron Man movies, you might be surprised to find that he has a long and storied history in indie films (see: Swingers). After focusing on some pretty high profile stuff, he’s going back to basics with Chef, a film he wrote, directed and stars in. The film stars Favreau as a chef whose Los Angeles restaurant fails, causing him to head back to his hometown of Miami to open a food truck with his sous chef, played by John Leguizamo. Along the way, he attempts to mend fences with his 11 year old son and his ex-wife, played by Sofia Vergara.
Chef features cameos from some familiar faces, such as Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Dustin Hoffman. The film premiered a few days ago at SXSW in Austin, Texas, but will hit theaters across the country May 9th.
