Regardless of how you feel about recent seasons of The X-Files, it’s fun seeing the characters we love back in action. The show is about to expand upon its mythology by taking a look at the life of Walter Skinner. According to an interview with EW, series creator Chris Carter says we’ll learn about his history and meet someone close to him, played by Haley Joel Osment.
Says Carter: “We learn more about Skinner and more about his connections to Mulder and Scully and how he’s been a loyal advocate of theirs at his own expense. We learn about his young life and the X-Files moment he experienced as a much younger man.”
We don’t know exactly who Osment is playing, but if the IMDB listing for his episode is true, all will be revealed during the sixth episode of the season, airing on Wednesday, February 7th. As you can see in the above photo, the majestic beard he rocked as Keenan Feldspar on Silicon Valley won’t be joining him in the upcoming episode. Skinner was one of my favorite characters from The X-Files, so I’m excited to see where the story takes this character.
Can’t quite remember where you’ve seen Haley Joel Osment before? He played Cole Sear, the kid who could see dead people in The Sixth Sense (remember how the ending blew your mind?), and he’s been in a ton of things you’ve seen since, such as Comedy Bang! Bang!, the Amazon show Alpha House, and both Kevin Smith’s Tusk and Yoga Hosers, to name a few. Check out his IMDB page – you’ll find something there that will surprise you.
Are you watching the latest season of The X-Files? What do you think of it so far? If you haven’t been, you can catch it Wednesday nights on Fox.
