George R.R. Martin Making Progress on Novel During Pandemic

Being stuck at home with no end in sight can be depressing. Some people are making it into an opportunity to work on projects they haven’t had time to finish. Take George R.R. Martin, for instance. The A Game of Thrones writer has taken precautions to keep away from others until things get better. Says Martin:

For those of you who may be concerned for me personally… yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition.   But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions.  I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going in to town or seeing anyone.   Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day.   Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms… but maybe not as grim as they may become here.

Does that mean he’ll complete the 6th novel in the series while locked away at home? Fingers crossed. I have a feeling we’ll see more art, music, and new projects pop up from lots of people as a result of everyone staying home. Read George R.R. Martin’s full blog post here.
