Man of the Week: Gabriel Iglesias

Gabriel Iglesias - The Fluffy Movie

With the release of his new film, The Fluffy Movie, and a comedy tour that’s crossing the country, 2014 has shaped up to be a great year for comedian Gabriel Iglesias. Though you might know him as Tobias in 2012’s Magic Mike, or recognize his voice from animated films The Nut Job and Planes, you most likely recognize Iglesias for his standup routines and DVD specials.

The Fluffy Movie marks his first feature length concert film, which documents his “Unity Through Laughter” tour. The tour spanned more than 400 cities in 23 countries, but was filmed over two nights in San Jose, CA.

Happy Birthday Gabriel!

While part of Iglesias’ routine in this film documents the trials and tribulations involved in a recent attempt at weight loss, he also talks about growing up as a poor kid in Los Angeles, and interacting with different cultures around the world during his travels as a comedian. The Fluffy Movie was released July 25th, and as is the case with many such concert films, has gotten mixed reviews from critics, but high marks from Iglesias’ dedicated fan base.
