Of all the places in the entertainment world where it can be tough to be fat, comedy isn’t necessarily one of them. From Chris Farley to Roseanne to Gabriel Iglesias to Melissa McCarthy, there’s always been a friendly enough spotlight ready for fat comedians. Well, at least friendlier than, say any superhero or action film casting call.
This Saturday, big guy comedians Ramon Rivas II (Broad City) and Jonathan Giles (Sunsesh LA) will take the standup stage with five other comedians at the Plus Bus Boutique’s first ever Curvy Comedy Showcase, hosted by curvy comedienne Jenny Zigrino (host of IFC’s The Filling is Mutual).
