See Our Summer Festival Plus Size Faves

summer16-2

Summer is here, and so is festival season, which means different things for different folks. For me, that means wearing as little as possible while still looking good. For my wife, Shanna, that means looking great and staying cool. We each put together one of our favorite looks for summer to share with you here.

As you can guess from my look, I’m keeping it simple. The [eafl id=”81824″ name=”Old Navy Big & Tall Update Link” text=”striped jersey tank comes from Old Navy”] ($4, sizes to 3x), and the sunglasses are the Ray-Ban Justin ($97.50), with a matte rubber finish. The square shape is perfect for square or rounded faces. If you’ve been reading Chubstr for a while, you know how difficult it’s been for me to find glasses that fit my head. Luckily, these are available in extended widths. I’m wearing the 55-16-145. Not wide enough for you? Check out what other men’s sunglasses Frames Direct has to offer.

Shanna is rocking a more put-together, funky, yet functional look. The jumper came from Target, and the leggings came from Kohls. The bralette comes from Forever21. The sunglasses are Versace VE4309B in black and gray gradient ($210). These are glasses that will probably last her through a few summers, and will fit with a variety of outfits.

For the last few years, I’ve only been wearing caps. One of my personal goals this year is to change things up, both large and small, so I opted for a straw fedora from Goorin Bros. This specific hat is called the Trumpet Straw Fedora Hat ($50). It’s roomy and light, and perfect for warm summer weather.

I’d like to say I’ve come across an amazing source for shorts, but that’s not the case. I got all DIY and cut up an old pair of chinos to make some shorts that fit my thighs pretty much perfectly. Could your festival style be a little more out there than this? Sure. For me, once I saw this tank, I knew I’d be wearing it all summer. Wear what you’re comfortable with, and don’t be afraid to mix it up.

This is pretty much what all our summer outfits look like, and they’re perfect for festivals, camping, or just hanging out in the backyard.

When you’re a bigger guy (or gal), and you get sweaty easily, sticking with the basics isn’t a bad way to go. Stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and get out there and enjoy what summer has to offer.
