We Found a Big Camera Strap Made for (Most) Big Bodies

We always talk about clothes that are being made for big gents, but did you know that there are companies out there making other products work for people of size? Meet Peak Design, and their thoughtfully constructed photo gear.

Peak Design Camera Strap

Peak Design’s mission is to enable photographers, adventurers and outdoors enthusiasts to better capture the beautiful world around them. This means creating products that can stand up to whatever you put them through, while fitting a variety of people. I put Peak Design’s Slide Camera Strap and the Capture Camera Clip to the test to see how it worked on a big guy’s body. I liked the ease of use, and the fit, but realized that we needed a professional opinion.

I reached out to our buddy, photographer Spencer Pablo to get his thoughts on what Peak Design has to offer:

Being a bigger guy, sometimes you can’t have cameras hanging anatomically where other solutions place them. With the Capture Clip, I can put it where it needs to. As for the strap, it’s comfortable. For the next release, someone at PD indicated that it would be a little bit larger to comfortably allow it to go over a larger torso.

So for the current strap rev, it fits me…won’t fit my larger cohorts…but rev2 will (hopefully). That being said, the surface area of the strap is larger, distributes weight better, and slides when I need it to and grip when I flip it over.

As you can see in the photos, Spencer is using both the clip and strap, without a problem. It sounds like we’ll see an even more extended version of the big camera strap in the next iteration. Get the Slide camera strap and the Capture Clip both starting at $59.95 respectively at Peak Design.
