The theme of this week’s Style Deconstructed is simple adorableness.
Yes, we said adorableness. But that’s only because we have never been able to look at everyone’s favorite hobbit without going “awwwww.” Somehow, through all of that adorable, Martin Freeman also still manages to be pretty darn attractive.
Okay, okay, adorability aside, the secondary theme of this week’s Style Deconstructed is “options.” This look is so simple that it really lends itself to providing a lot of options. We’d also like to take a minute to acknowledge the tendency of a lot of men (ourselves included) to always pair their sweaters with button-shirts.
Here’s our challenge to you: give the pullover a shot on its own. Just try it one day – go without your standard plaid button-shirt collar poking over the top of your sweater collar. Put the cardigan back in the closet and simplify your look both in color and in physical number of items.
What’s that? Challenge accepted? Great. Here’s a few different options for you to start with. We’ve picked a variety of sweaters in extended sizes for you to choose from and paired them with last week’s Docker’s and our favorite House of Halls denim (because maybe it’s casual Friday every day for you).
At it’s most basic, the thing that really makes Martin Freeman’s look here stand out is the very simple color complement of that brighter cobalt/periwinkle/whatever you choose to call it blue with the more fastidious navy.
Maybe you prefer a red and gray combo. That’s great, try pairing it with gray pants (or maybe red, if you’re adventurous, and we hope you are).
