He’s the Head Braverman In Charge, or so his fictional alter ego might have you believe, this week’s Man of the Week, Peter Krause, also has the distinction of playing the man married to the Braverman everyone loves to hate.
His current series, Parenthood, is a critical darling and audience favorite and it’s worth noting this combination of acclaim isn’t easy to come by. While Krause takes our top honors this week on the heels of an emotional (but really, when isn’t the show emotional) Parenthood season finale, his is a face that’s made the rounds of our TV screens for awhile now.
Most people probably recognize Krause from his days as another eldest sibling, Nate Fisher from HBO’s acclaimed Six Feet Under. But Krause made his television debut as sportscaster, Casey McCall on the short-lived Aaron Sorkin-penned sitcom, Sports Night. He also spent an ill-advised season on ABC’s less-than-stellar and quickly cancelled Dirty, Sexy, Money.
Typecasting is kind of an understatement when it comes to Krause, who has mastered the art of playing characters whose primary traits include keeping a level head amidst chaos and being the voice of reason in a variety of situations.
There’s certainly something to be said for typecasting where Krause is concerned, his straight laced characters are often the very heart and soul of the ensembles he leads on the small screen.
Though Parenthood ended it’s third season last week, NBC has confirmed that the show will return next year for season 4. Though it’ll be fall again before you can get a weekly dose of Krause on your TV screen, you can always catch his older work on Netflix.
And with that, we wrap up this week’s Man of the Week, as always, if you’d like to suggest future men of the week, let us know in the comments below or on our Facebook page.
