Who says Menswear is dull? Well.. if we’re honest with ourselves, plenty of people make the claim and hold the view that men’s fashions are largely uninteresting and yes, even boring. But we would strongly caution against voicing such opinions within earshot of fashion Historian, Cally Blackman.
Blackman, in fact, so disagrees with the notion that menswear is boring that she put together an entire book demonstrating the opposite. 100 Years of Menswear is a “celebration of men’s fashion and style,” that features thousands of images centered on highlighting menswear styles of the 20th century.
Think of it as an encyclopedia of sorts. Blackman uses iconic, as well as lesser-known images to provide a well-rounded resource for the history of menswear and its transformation over time.
But 100 Years of Menswear is as much about style as it is fashion, using images to emphasize the impact personal touches and personal style have on fashion. We like to think of this book more as 320 pages of inspiration.
