Adam from Ireland asked: I’m looking for a spring jacket, nothing too expensive, any suggestions?
Thanks for the question, James. Take a look at Nordstrom’s spring jacket selection (with sizes to big 4X) for jackets in literally EVERY style imaginable.
Well, maybe not EVERY style, but you get the idea. Prices generally start around $80 and go up from there. If that’s not your thing, take a look at Altrec (with sizes to 5X) for something more outdoorsy, or Eddie Bauer spring jackets for something a bit more put together and mature, pictured below.
James asked: Hello. My name is James. Im 22 years old and I’m a bigger guy. I was trolling the internet on male modeling, and i came across your site. I was wondering if you knew where one could get into modeling as a big guy. Im definitely interested in it.
Well, James – it’s difficult to break into the industry. Why? Because with a few exceptions, the plus size male model is a myth right now. Big guys are even less represented in fashion than plus size women. There are, however a few places that employ plus size male models – such as Indi Denim and Brigitte Models in Germany. Not a lot of options.
Is this changing? I believe so. Even fashion writer (all stylish big gent) Corbin Chamberlin believes the tide is slowly turning. In our interview with him last week, he said as much. There are, however, some things brewing here when it comes to the plus size male model. I can’t say much more about it right now, but keep an eye on Chubstr and you might be pleasantly surprised.
There is a big difference between big dude sizes. At a big and tall shop, the clothes fit better. Clothing lines at box stores are usually smaller than what they advertise. So what I'm saying is if target does this, they need to partner with a good big and tall company and not a fly by nite one.
I would check it out and probably buy for my husband being tall and chubby fashion is usually the last thing that crosses his mind so yea I'm all for more plus size clothing for men
That would really be great...target is really great for moms/families on a budget. I am fairly fashion savvy and about 90% percent of my AND my daughter's wardrobe comes from target. Now if we could only get dad in the mix!
I reached out to Target PR for a response, but haven't gotten one. I hope it's something they're considering!
It sounds like its a step in the right direction, but not quite what's needed. I'd like to see something similar done for gents - they'd sell SO MUCH of that stuff!
I actually liked SOME of their ava + Viv line...bought a fatkini and love it! Do wish they had men's line for my guy though.
It's a step forward, but honestly the Target line sucks (consensus among most plus people). We definitely need some mens lines though! My hubby is not high fashion, and is low maintenance, but even current fashion forward basics are hard to find!
