The Hobbit - in theaters today!

TOTW: Frank Ocean + Radiohead, The Hobbit, & 12-12-12

Go See The Hobbit

It’s Friday and that means another Thing of the Week. We come across a lot of interesting things throughout the course of the week, and they don’t always fit into our regular editorial content. Thing of the Week is the place for us to share those items, whatever they are, with you. Some of them you’d expect to find at Chubstr, while some you wouldn’t. You never know what you’ll find.

The Hobbit Hits Theaters

It’s been 9 years since Return of the King hit the silver screen, and now The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is taking us back to Middle Earth.  Martin Freeman plays Bilbo Baggins, who with the help of a large (and rather hairy) group of dwarves, is on a quest to reclaim lost treasure from the dragon Smaug. You’ll see some of your favorite characters from the last films, such as Ian McKellen playing Gandalf, and Andy Sirkis reprising his role as gollum. Have you seen the film? Tell us what you thought in the comments below.

Frank Ocean Covers Radiohead

Frank Ocean found a way to make Radiohead’s Fake Plastic Trees even slower. Take a listen:

The 12-12-12 Charity Auction

If you watched the 12-12-12 concert earlier this week, you saw some of the biggest bands in the world (including a reunited Nirvana with Sir Paul McCartney) playing their greatest songs in order to raise money for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Now, you can bid on items from the concert at the 12-12-12 Charity Auction site. Bidding is open on everything from the drumsticks Dave Grohl used that night, to guitars signed by almost everyone there, to Kanye’s Sweatshirt. There are still items that haven’t been bid on, so you can get in without spending a ton of money – besides, it’s for a great cause, so be sure to take a look at what’s available.
