What’s that you say? You don’t recognize the name John E. Brennan? That’s ok, you’ve probably only heard him referred to as some variation of the naked businessman at the Portland airport. Now you can add Chubstr Man of the Week to his list of noms de guerre.
Last week, in what he calls an act of defiance that is protected as political speech, frequent flier and Portland businessman, John E. Brennan stripped naked at the Portland airport after being stopped by the TSA. He said he didn’t want to deal with being hassled by the security administrators after the security sensors went off as Brennan passed through.
Ultimately, Brennan refused to put his clothes back on and was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct. But Brennan stands by his actions, telling reporters at the time of the incident and since that he was “nude but not lewd.” He also encourages other travelers to follow his lead in disrobing for the TSA.
We loathe the thought of being hassled at the airport as much as the next guy, but the jury’s still out here at Chubstr HQ as to whether we’d actually disrobe like Brennan did. Nevertheless, we’re unanimous that his actions and his calm demeanor during and after the kerfuffle warrant a nod here in the Man of the Week archives.
And with that, we close out our Man of the Week this week. As always if you have suggestions for future men of the week, let us know on our Facebook page. And this week, be sure to tell us where you stand on Brennan’s call to action to disrobe for the TSA the next time you fly the friendly skies.
