We haven’t given all that much love to the midwest when it comes to our Sized Up articles, so over the next two weeks, we’re going to focus on some cities in Middle America and the cool shops they have to offer. We’re kicking things off today with 3 shops in Kansas City, Missouri that you should take a look at when you’re looking for clothing in your size.

Michael's Fine Clothes for MenSince 1905, Michael’s Fine Clothes for Men has been outfitting gents in high quality clothing. Known for their personalized service – the team at Michael’s will help you find clothing that fits your body and your style. You’ll find a mix of classic pieces and more modern looks – perfect if you’re trying to put together a more mature sort of outfit. They specialize in sizes from 36 to 60, so you can rest assured that they’ll be able to find what you’re looking for. If something doesn’t fit perfectly, Michael’s offers immediate alterations so you leave with clothes exactly the way you want them.

Garment District Boutique If you’re looking for more trendy clothing, be sure to stop by The Garment District Boutique. You’ll find brands such as Ben Sherman, William Rast, and English laundry available in sizes to 3XL and 42 waist. In addition to fashionable clothing, The Garment District also sports a bar, so you’ll be able to get a tasty beverage while you shop. The gentleman I spoke with there tells me that although the clothing they offer is available in extended sizes, some of the 3XL tops might fit more like a 2XL. Be sure to try everything on before you buy.

Rock Candy Boutique Kansas CityRock Candy Boutique serves up vintage clothing and accessories to the men and women of Kansas City daily. Since they deal in vintage clothing, you never know what you’ll find in stock, but Shannon, the owner, tells me that they regularly get shirts of the western variety in extended sizes. It’s certainly worth a look – if not for shirts, then for hats, boots and other accessories. Rock Candy is a fun place to visit with a variety of vintage clothing that you’ll love. Be sure to stop by.
