One of our favorite bloggers and champions of fat acceptance, Kyla Hagedorn, AKA Kyla The Great, is starting a photo project that focuses on photographing fat bodies from the side. Here’s what she says about the project:

As I’ve said time and time again, our profile view is one that we don’t see very often. I believe this is why it’s such a pain in the butt to accept along with the rest of our bodies. Even I have days where I’m thrown off by the sight of my body from the side — not because it’s a bad thing, but simply because it’s not an angle of myself I’ve spent much time looking at.

So, I need your help ! If you live in Southern California and want to be a part of this project, please contact me ! Photos can be clothed or nude, whatever your comfort level is. This is open to ALL genders !
I’m not the world’s best photographer, but I have passion for both it and body acceptance. This project is going to be one from the heart, and I can’t wait to share it with the rest of the world. <3

She’s even started a new tumblr page dedicated to it called Fat From The Side (if your workplace frowns on nude bodies, NSFW). Even if you’re not in Southern California, you can submit a photo to the site. It’s a great idea that we hope to see take off. From the last update we read, there’s quite a bit of interest already.
